Maxwell Liu, Chief Statistical Officer
Max developed the ATR Ranking Score System based on Elo model, tailored specifically for tennis. To integrate tennis match results into statistical model, Max calibrated the ATR Ranking model using ATR's historical and ongoing match results, producing an accurate and dynamic ranking framework that now powers all ATR tournaments. Max also took on the responsibilities of chief operational officer for the 2025 Summer Ladder, a new service line of ATR, overseeing real-time ladder rankings. His meticulous oversight ensured fairness, precision, and excitement for participants throughout the season. Max established data-driven foundation for ATR.
Max actively participated in ATR tournaments to raise funds for Children's Inn at NIH, Key Bridge Collapse victims, Flatfoot sufferers, etc. He has offered numerous strategic insights that benefit ATR's long-term growth and increase community engagement.
Prior to joining ATR, Max participated in Linx ladder hitting session weekly, and had ranked No.1 for more than 50 consecutive weeks, and was member of a USTA regional championship-winning team, a renowned idol among local teenager tennis players. His innovative, leadership, and commitment to tennis excellence continue to inspire our members and strengthen ATR's mission.
Ray Cai, Chief Executive Officer of ATR Virginia Region and Webmaster
Ray has been a loyal ATR tournament participant. He won multiple ATR Tenacity Awards in ATR Tier 1 Single Tournaments. After relocating to Virginia, Ray took the initiative to establish the ATR Virginia Branch. Under his leadership, ATR's mission and values have been effectively extended to a broader regional audience with Virginia participants joining ATR volunteer hitting sessions and Summer Ladder tournament.
Leveraging his strong background in computer science, Ray developed and deployed the official ATR website, which now serves as the organization's central digital platform. The site integrates tournaments registration and result tracking, and hitting session promotion, etc. Ray engineered the system on Amazon Web Services (AWS), implemented HTTPS encryption to enhance cybersecurity, and synchronized live Summer Ladder ranking data to ensure real-time accuracy. Through his strategic optimization efforts, ATR's website now ranks at the top of Google Search results for "Association of Tennis Recreationals."
In addition, Ray compiled the ATR Volunteer Hitting Session Brochure and standardized the procedures for ATR officers to host ATR Hitting Sessions. The brochure summarized all risk factors, including weather and courts' availability, and laid out procedures to address each risk factor. This document has become an essential training manual for new officers in 2025, setting a clear operational standard for ATR volunteer hitting sessions.

As Chief Technology Officer, Tyler codified the ATR Summer Ladder ranking rules into an app, enabling real-time updates and data tracking. He tested and refined the system using actual Summer Ladder match results, improving the transparency and efficiency of ATR's ranking process. Beyond his technical work, Tyler has also guided junior officers to host free tennis hitting session, and demonstrated tennis groundstroke skills with Bert, an ATR mentor and State Champion, during the hitting session, setting standards to inspire younger members to follow.
